BATTLE’S OVER – 100 years of remembrance, 11th November 2018 at 6.55pm onwards

BATTLE’S OVER.

A Nation’s Tribute. 11th November 2018

100 years of remembrance

RINGING OUT FOR PEACE.

Ringing out for peace is part of Battle’s Over, a commemoration of the end of the first world war.

The organisers of Battle’s Over, a national and international event marking the Armistice, wants to see more than 1000 Churches and Cathedrals participate by ringing their bells simultaneously at 7.05pm on the night if the 11th November 2018.

I am organising this event through the Parish Council, asking the help of friends, St.Peter’s campanologists and The Red Lion to make it a very special evening.

We commence by a bugler sounding the last post outside the Church door at  6.55pm. At 7pm WW1 Beacons of Light will be lit ( Beacon on the Church Tower) signifying the light of peace that emerged from the darkness of war.

7.05pm The Church Bells will ring out again for peace, being a fitting conclusion to a day of commemoration.

Our Church has registered its involvement and will receive a certificate confirming this event.

Carol and Alan from the Red Lion will organise food representing the years we are commemorating and have organised a group to play music of that era. We ask if you can dress in clothes corresponding to that time we should all have a wonderful evening. Tickets at a very basic price will be advertised next month but please save the date.
