The next W.I. meeting is on 11th May at 7.30 pm in the Village Hall.  The speaker is Brian Crossley and the title of his talk is “Why do some chairs have cane seats?”

Brian is a second generation Chair Caner with over fifty years experience.  He will be bringing a selection of caned chairs, materials and the tools used in the making of the chairs. The craft commenced in England around 1660 and the cane comes from the rainforests in the Far East.  His talk covers elements of history, botany and geography and will be supplemented by a slide show.
