Sadly there will not be a Christingle Service at St Peters this year. I am sure we will all miss gathering together at this lovely service which usually marks the start of our Christmas celebrations, as well as raising funds to support the work of The Children’s Society.
But there is some good news … there will be an on-line National Christingle Event. This will take place at 9am to 9.45am on Sunday 13th December.
The service will be streamed on the Church of England’s website, Facebook and YouTube channels. It will include a few words from HRH The Duchess of Gloucester, the Archbishop of Canterbury who will be lighting the Advent Candle, as well as The Children’s Society Vice-Chair of Trustees, the Bishop of Derby Libby Lane. There will also be a special performance from soprano Joanna Forest. It sounds like a magical event.
Register to attend at Christingle.org/attend and you will receive information on how to watch online, join in with Christingle making and download the Order of Service. Click here for the Facebook event.
The service will also be available as a recording from Monday 14th December on The Children’s Society channels.
